Overview
The directorate of ICT falls under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning under the Planning and Economic Development Unit. The ICT directorate is headed by the Director ICT who reports to the Chief Officer Planning and Economic Development.
Directorate Mandate
- Improve and maintain ICT infrastructure in the County (Establishment of infrastructure for County Data Center and Recovery Site, Installation of secure IT Network and Telephony infrastructure at County HQ, Ministries headquarters and Sub Counties)
- Automate revenue collection and management together with the revenue department
- Implement County ICT Strategic Plans, Policies and Standards
- Manage ICT use and security issues in a comprehensive and coordinated way
- Establish infrastructure for County Data Center and Recovery Site
- Enforce and implement e-Government standards and procedures
- Establish business continuity plans
- Provide user support and ICT Equipment Maintenance
- Facilitate staff capacity building
General Functions
- Provide technical and operational support for IT systems and infrastructure
- Formulate and ensure implementation of ICT strategies, policies, and standards
- Design, develop and deploy IT infrastructure and software applications
- Collaborate and coordinate all government departments in addressing their specific ICT needs
- Promote E-government services
- Carrying out research and development on emerging technological issues
- Liaise with hardware and software vendors on IT related contractual agreements and warranties
